The family of an Abbotsford woman who has been missing for nearly a month is asking the public for help in locating her.

Kristina Ward was reported missing to Abbotsford police on Sept. 25, but the case has since been picked up by the serious crimes unit of Langley RCMP.

Ward has been known to frequent the Langley city core. An RCMP officer saw Ward in Langley on Sept. 27, but reported that she seemed fine.

Ward’s mother and grandmother say the 20-year-old needs help, especially if she’s been missing for this long.

“We’re very concerned for her,” her mother LeeAnne said. “We miss her, and something’s not right.”

RCMP said Ward could be in danger of being picked up by a stranger, describing her as “naive.”

“She’s not your typical 20-year-old,” Cpl. Craig van Herk with Langley RCMP said.

“She could probably be easily taken advantage of, because she is a trusting person.”

Ward’s grandmother agrees.

“She has an air of innocence about her,” Geraldine Silva said. “She tends to believe people at face value.”

Police are searching the streets that she normally frequents, as well as homeless camps where she also spends time.

Ward is First Nations, five-foot-six and 130 pounds, with long, curly brown hair and brown eyes.

Her family says that Ward requires medication, but they believe she doesn’t have that medication with her.

Anyone with information about Ward’s whereabouts is asked to contact RCMP, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
