With wind gusts of up to 100 kilometres per hour expected to develop in some parts of southern Alberta on Saturday, Environment Canada issued wind warnings for a number of “wind-prone areas” in the southern part of the province.
“Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur,” the weather agency said on its website Saturday morning. “Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds.”
According to Environment Canada, the strong winds were expected to diminish in the evening.
As of 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, parts of the Blood Reserve, Cardston County, the M.D. of Willow Creek , the M.D. of Pincher Creek, the M.D. of Ranchland, the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass, the Piikani Reserve and Waterton Lakes National Park were under a warning.
