Wayne Daniel Rennie, 26, is back in police custody after leading officers on multiple high speed pursuits in a stolen truck.
Early Friday morning a 2016 Ford F150 was reported stolen from a parking lot near Grassie Boulevard and Lagimodiere Street. The truck gassed up the next day in the area of Gateway Road and McLeod Avenue before driving away without paying.

On Monday at around 11 a.m., the truck was spotted in Transcona being driven in a “dangerous manner” according to police. After attempting to stop the vehicle during a pursuit, officers abandoned the chase because of the risk to public safety.

Later on that day at approximately 3:10 p.m. police spotted the truck near Plessis Road and Regent Avenue. Officers tried stopping the vehicle again during a chase but abandoned the pursuit because of the high speeds after the chase entered a residential area.
Soon after that chase was abandoned, the stolen truck was involved in a crash near Plessis Road and Pandora Avenue. The truck kept driving after the crash and was soon abandoned in the area and the driver fled on foot.

A Winnipeg Police Canine Unit found the abandoned stolen truck and a police dog was able to track and locate Rennie nearby.

Rennie had just been released from prison in March after serving time for a previous incident.
On July 20, 2015 Rennie was making a delivery in a large transport truck when he got pulled over for using his cellphone.
He told Global News in a one-on-one interview in 2016 that he lost his cool after getting the ticket and purposely slammed his transport truck into five police cruisers. He then led Winnipeg police and RCMP on a pursuit that ended near Portage la Prairie.

“It wasn’t the best decision. I could have handled it differently I wish, I wish I could take it back but it happened,” said Rennie.
He faces a number of charges for his most recent offences.
