Hundreds of passengers on an Emirates flight experienced a scary landing at Dusseldorf Airport in western Germany on Thursday, as powerful crosswinds seemed to nearly knock the Airbus A380 off the runway.
The A380 is the world’s largest passenger plane and can fit up to 500 seats.
The crosswinds were attributed to Storm Xavier, which has proven deadly across northern Europe, killing at least seven, said the Associated Press.
Winds reportedly reached up to 120 km/h in Berlin and public transportation across Germany was temporarily shut down.
Plane spotter Martin Bogdan filmed the bumpy landing in another video and praised the pilots for managing to realign the aircraft to the runway despite the fierce winds.
“I have filmed a few thousand crosswind landings at several airports in Europe within the past years, but the Airbus A380 crosswind landing was extremely hard and extraordinary,” he wrote on YouTube. “I have never seen such a tremendous reaction of an airplane after a touchdown.”
An Emirates spokesperson told Metro in the U.K. that no one was injured during the landing.
“Emirates flight EK 55 on 5 October 2017 landed safely in Dusseldorf under strong crosswind conditions. At no point was the safety of the passengers and crew on board compromised,” they said.
