Ashley Judd thanks supporters after Weinstein allegations

Ashley Judd has remained mostly silent since her allegations of sexual harassment against Harvey Weinstein were reported last week, but on Sunday she took the time to thank some friends and supporters.

The story about decades of harassment by the movie mogul was published in the New York Times on Oct. 5, and featured claims by Judd that nearly 20 years ago Weinstein had her up to his hotel room, where he asked if he could give her a massage, and for her to watch him shower.

Soon after the Weinstein allegations came out, Canadian writer Anne T. Donahue tweeted about her own experiences with a boss who sexually harassed her. The tweet went viral, spurring thousands of women to open up about their own personal stories of harassment and abuse.

On Sunday, Judd responded to Donahue’s tweet, thanking her.

The 49-year-old actress then went on to thank a number of high-profile friends and celebrities who have stood by her publicly, including Susan Sarandon, Patricia Arquette, Mark Ruffalo, and CNN anchor Jake Tapper, among others.

On Sunday, the board of directors at The Weinstein Company announced that Weinstein had been terminated from the company.
