This year’s theme at the Norwood  Fall Fair is “Fun for the Whole Herd.”

“It’s like the Thanksgiving homecoming weekend for everybody. You get to see friends from 20, 30 years ago, it’s great,” said one visitor, Roxanne Campbell.

The annual event began in 1868 as a place for area residents to display the fruits of their labour at a community gathering. It has been going strong ever since during every Thanksgiving long weekend.

Like many of the visitors at the Norwood Fall Fair, Campbell hasn’t missed a year since she was three years old. She now brings her entire family to introduce them to the tradition.

“It’s been going for 149 years. It’s agricultural-based and of course, you throw in the midway and a bunch of other attractions and you end up with, we believe a premium fair,” said general manager Paul Quinlan.

Attractions include cowboy competitions, live music, horse shows, tractor races, crops and arts competitions, midway, parade and much more.

Organizers say the grounds saw 45,000 people last year. They added that it can get hectic, especially when it rains, like it did on Saturday.

Plenty of the guests told CHEX News this is the best fair in town, and hope to see the homecoming tradition live on for years to come.
