The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) has been called in after Abbotsford police said they arrested a prolific driving offender on Wednesday morning.
The arrest came after he he allegedly tried to evade officers, took a four-metre fall and subsequently broke his leg.
Const. Ian MacDonald said police clocked the 37-year-old driving a red Honda through Chilliwack at 160km/h on a stretch of road with a speed limit of 70 km/h.

But when officers approached him, police said he ran off, eventually falling four metres and breaking his leg.
The IIO is looking into the case.
“We will allow the IIO to look at the facts relating to that fall,” says Const. MacDonald.
MacDonald says an officer was also treated for injuries following the arrest.
Abbotsford Police say it’s recommending a number charges including driving while prohibited, resisting arrest, hit and run and attempted theft.
MacDonald says there are warrants for his arrest on other driving offences.
