Enjoy the fall weather Alberta, because wind and snow are coming Sunday

Albertans looking to enjoy the fall weather better do so on Saturday because the temperature is set to drop on Sunday and parts of Alberta are expected to see snow.

Environment Canada said snow and strong northerly winds are expected late this weekend.

“A cold front is forecast to move through Alberta, bringing a significant drop in temperatures and snow,” the national weather agency said Saturday morning.

“Over the mountains and Swan Hills, snow is expected [Saturday] and [Sunday] with snow spreading into southern and central Alberta by Monday morning.”

Environment Canada said precipitation will begin as rain, with all regions changing to snow by Monday morning.

In addition to snow, strong to severe northerly winds are forecast to develop Sunday in central Alberta and spread southwards in the evening.

In western Saskatchewan along the Alberta border, Environment Canada said rain will change to snow Monday morning as strong to severe northerly winds develop. The highest snow accumulations are expected along the Cypress Hills.

Further details regarding rainfall and snowfall amounts, as well as expected wind strength, will be released as conditions change.

In Edmonton and Calgary, the temperature is set to drop over 10 degrees between Saturday and Sunday.
