Search and rescue teams looking for missing hiker in St. George N.B. area

RCMP and ground search and rescue teams are scouring an area of walking trails in St. George, N.B., for a missing hiker.

Police say Martha Comeau, 69, from Maces Bay was reported missing at around 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

RCMP say she was with her husband on the trails that run from the Day Adventure Centre to Manor Road when she became separated from him.

Comeau is described as a Caucasian woman, standing four-eleven, weighing 120 pounds, with short grey hair and wearing prescription glasses. Police say they are concerned for her well-being because she has a medical condition that could cause her to become disoriented.

Currently, the St. George RCMP detachment, RCMP Police Dog Services, St. George Fire Department and local search and rescue teams are in the area searching for Comeau.

The public is asked to stay away from the area while the search is ongoing.

Anyone who sees Comeau is asked to call RCMP at 506-755-1130.
