Quebec provincial police find body on dirt road along Riviere Rouge in Arundel

The Sûreté du Quebec (SQ) have confirmed that they have found a body on a dirt road along the Rivière Rouge in Arundel, about 50 kilometres north of Lachute.

“We are still awaiting for the coroner to formally identify the body,” said SQ spokesperson Daniel Thibodeau early Thursday morning.

“All signs point to this being the body of Yvon Lacasse.”

Wednesday was the sixth day of the search for Lacasse. Over the weekend, as many as 200 people participated in the search to find the senior citizen.

Police are seeking Yvon Lacasse, after his vehicle was used by Ugo Fredette on Sept. 15, 2017. (SQ).

His Honda CRV was believed stolen by Ugo Fredette, the 41-year-old St-Eustache man charged with the second-degree murder of daycare owner Veronique Barbe.

Fredette was driving a grey Honda CRV when he was arrested near Renfrew, Ont. at the end of a long police chase.

Provincial police had been searching intensively for Lacasse in the area around Arundel for the last two days.
