A man was wounded in a police-involved shooting in Tatamagouche, N.S., after the body of a woman was discovered in a home.
RCMP say officers responded to a 911 call from a residence in Bayhead in Colchester County, shortly before midnight on Sunday.

Officers found the body of a woman and located a male suspect shortly after.
“There was an incident where a woman was shot and is now deceased and in the investigation of that matter, police learned about a 47-year-old man,” said Ron MacDonald, director of the province’s Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT).

According to police, the man drove off in a vehicle and RCMP pursued him until they reached the Lockerbie Memorial Cemetery on Highway 6 in Tatamagouche.
RCMP say they “verbally engaged” with the suspect who was inside the vehicle for several hours, before gunfire was exchanged at around 7 a.m.
The suspect was wounded, taken to hospital for treatment and remains in police custody. Neither RCMP nor SiRT could confirm the extent of the man’s injuries.
