On Friday, a group of six Montreal-area kids — between the ages of four and nine, handed over an $835 check to the Montreal Children’s Hospital.
The children got together to bake challah ahead of the Rosh Hashanna — the Jewish New Year — and decided to hold a bake sale.
For Mrs. Goldstein, mother to four of the little bakers, it’s all about teaching kids the values of charity and helping others.

After asking the kids what they could do to help others, they came up with the idea of a lemonade stand, only with baked goods instead.
According to Goldstein, it was the kids’ idea to donate the proceeds to the Children’s hospital.
The four Goldstein children — Eliane, Jonathan, Nathaniel and Talia — were helped along by their friends Marshall and Anderson Weinstein.

They baked 75 loaves of challas using 12 kg of flour and made $435, with an anonymous donor doubling the amount.
Nine-year-old Eliane Goldstein told Global News that it was a fun project.
“We’re maybe thinking of doing it again on the next holiday,” she said.
