Regina is commemorating the official signing of Treat 4 on September 15, 1874 in Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan by flying Treaty 4 flags on the Albert Street Bridge.

“Regina is located on Treaty 4 land and within the traditional territory of the Métis,” Mayor Michael Fougere said.

The treaties are a formal agreements between the Crown and First Nations, outlying obligations and expectations. The treaties are intended to create and foster mutually beneficial arrangements that pursue and promote relationship based friendship, peace and goodwill.
