A 74-year-old man died after his scooter was hit by a truck in a northwestern Alberta town Tuesday morning.
The collision in Beaverlodge happened at around 8:30 a.m. on 11 Street near 4 Avenue, on a road without any sidewalks.
RCMP said the senior was driving a battery-powered scooter heading east on the street when he was struck by a pickup truck.
The collision happened just a few hundred metres from the Beaverlodge Municipal Hospital, where the senior was taken to by ambulance and later passed away.
The victim’s family was notified and his name is not being released.
A collision analyst from Peace River was called in to investigate.
There is no word on whether the truck driver will be charged. The cause remains under investigation.
Beaverlodge is 490 kilometres northwest of Edmonton, near Grande Prairie.
