Four pricey speed boats and their trailers were stolen early Wednesday morning from the Wizard Lake Marine Inc. boat dealership in Calmar, Alta.
“They’re four very spectacular looking boats,” RCMP Cpl. Laurel Scott said, “very unique and very valuable.”
Leduc RCMP believe the break-in happened early in the morning.
“We got the call on the morning of Sept. 13 that the dealership employees and owner noticed that boats had been stolen,” Scott said.
“It was determined that sometime through the night, maybe after 1 in the morning on the 13th, people entered the compound — four males — loaded up the boats and they were seen leaving the compound on four pickup trucks and heading east on Highway 39.”
The boats are all 23-foot Super Air Nautique G23, designed for wake boarding, water skiing and other water sports.
“Two of the boats came from a spot that was under coverage basically at the back of our building, and two boats had to be moved to access the boats that were taken,” co-owner Gordon Quistberg told Global News.
“They were in all parts of the yard but anywhere they were moving boats, they knew where our cameras were.
“Seeing what they did and how it was done and the time it was done in… they were pros, for sure,” Quistberg said.

Each boat and trailer combination is worth approximately $200,000.
“Just the value of these boats and the fact that four were taken and it’s the end of the summer makes it a very interesting case,” Scott said.

The dealership said the boats were locked in a secure area, but the thieves got in and out of the facility in a matter of minutes.
Mounties said a description of the suspects was not currently available. However, they’re looking at surveillance footage and hope to provide suspect and suspect vehicle descriptions shortly.
The brightly-painted boats are very recognizable and Leduc RCMP are seeking the public’s help to find them and identifying the thieves.
The boats could be anywhere by now. Wizard Lake Marine said it got a message from someone who spotted three boats — like the ones stolen — headed east on the Trans Canada Highway near Winnipeg.
Anyone with information is asked to call Leduc RCMP or submit an anonymous tip via Crime Stoppers.
Calmar is about 15 kilometres west of Leduc, and 35 kilometres southwest of Edmonton.
