A giant plume of dark smoke and flames rose over the Trans-Canada east of Winnipeg Wednesday morning after a fuel truck caught fire after a crash.

Steinbach RCMP are on scene of the blaze six kilometers east of Richer, MB.

Officers say no one is hurt, but a section of Highway 1 in that area is closed, from Road 48E to 54E.

The collision happened just before 9 a.m.
