Winnipeg gets one of its hottest days of the year in September

It hasn’t been a scorching hot summer but one of the hottest days of the year has been saved for September.

Winnipeg, as of 5 p.m. has broken the record for hottest temperature on Sept. 12 reaching 34.5 Celsius. Many other communities in southern Manitoba could also break records Tuesday.

Usually, temperatures this time of year range between 6 C and 19 C in Winnipeg. With these record breaking temperatures, this places it in a tie for the hottest day of the year. June 2 also saw temperatures reach 34.5 C.

The record high for Sept. 12 was 33.3 C which was registered in 1952.
