He railed against the BC Liberals for it when he was opposition leader, but now that he’s premier, NDP leader John Horgan is attending a $500-a-plate fundraiser scheduled for Sept. 22.

The NDP has taken some heat for delaying its plan to ban corporate and union donations.

The ban was supposed to include caps on individual donations, but Horgan says legislation is coming next week.
“We will be banning union and corporate donations, but that doesn’t mean fundraising stops,” Horgan told CKNW’s Jon McComb.
“And in the case of the Leaders’ Levee [on Sept. 22], this is widely advertised, it’s no secret, it’s not buying influence. It’s saying to people, ‘If you want to support my political party, we’re having a dinner and a speech.'”
Last Friday Horgan had to defend his presence at a private function in Surrey where donations were allegedly encouraged.
His picture was also taken with a man convicted in a 2010 shooting.
The NDP denied the event was a fundraiser.
