It’s been a summer that until recently saw more than double the number of black bears destroyed compared to last year, but last month was more lenient.
Sixty black bears were destroyed in August, according to the Ministry of Environment, 19 fewer than the same time last year.

May remains to be the deadliest month this year for B.C. black bears when 119 were destroyed, a 120 per cent spike over last year.
Fewer were killed in June and July, however the count was still twice as high as 2016.
