Saskatchewan RCMP has requested the Regina Police Service conduct an independent, external investigation into a sudden death at the Indian Head RCMP detachment.

RCMP have confirmed the sudden death of a 46-year-old woman at the Indian Head RCMP detachment on Saturday, September 2.

Officers say first responders gave medical assistance, but the woman was later pronounced dead at the Indian Head Hospital.

The Regina Police Service will report the results of their investigation to the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General. Saskatchewan RCMP has also requested the Ministry of Justice appoint an independent observer.

The name of the deceased is not being released at this time.
