UPDATE: Toronto police confirmed Sept. 6 that Cortney Bendell was found safe

The family of a missing 32-year-old woman from downtown Toronto is concerned for her safety, saying she has never “disappeared” like this before.

Toronto police said Cortney Bendell, 32, was last seen Friday around noon in the Spadina Avenue and Fort York Boulevard area.

Maryanne Bendell, Cortney’s sister, told Global News the family fears for her safety, as Cortney suffers from mental health issues.

Maryanne reported her missing after they arrived to surprise her with a visit to Woodstock, Ont., to see family, but found Cortney was not home. Her sister said Cortney does not have a phone on her.

She is described as 5’5″ with long brown hair. She was last seen wearing a black dress, flip-flop sandals and carrying a black and turquoise striped bag.

Maryanne said Cortney also has distinct butterfly tattoos on her back.

The family is putting up flyers and searching in the area Sunday afternoon.

Police said they are concerned for her well-being.
