Halifax police charge man after weapons call

Halifax police say a 52-year-old man faces weapons charges after they responded to a weapons call on Wednesday night.

According to police, officers were called at 8:35 p.m. to a residence in the 500 block of Herring Cove Road. They say the caller said a man in one of the apartment buildings could be seen pointing a gun at a window in the building next door.

Emergency response team, patrol and K9 members immediately responded to contain the area and assist police.

Police made contact with the suspect just after 10 p.m. via phone and arrested him after he left the apartment.

Officers then executed a search warrant at the apartment where the suspect was observed and seized a number of airsoft guns.

A 52-year-old man from Halifax faces one charge of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court on Oct. 10.
