Murder charges laid after man found dead in Vancouver Downtown Eastside apartment

A man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with a body found in a Downtown Eastside apartment on Monday afternoon.

Vancouver police were called to the unit on Princess Avenue near Alexander Street around 3 p.m.

Investigators found the body of a 53-year-old man, who has been identified as Roscoe Henry Carmack.

Police determined the death to be suspicious, and turned the case over to the VPD’s major crimes unit.

Thirty-four-year-old Randall Whitworth Hill has now been charged with one count of second degree murder. He remains in custody.

It’s not clear if the two men knew each other.

The death mark’s Vancouver’s 13th homicide of the year.
