TANNERSVILLE, Pa. – Police say two women dressed as nuns attempted to rob a bank in Pennsylvania’s Poconos.

Authorities say the women walked into Citizens Bank near Tannersville on Monday and one brandished a handgun, demanding money from a teller. But they left without taking anything. Police say a teller pulled the alarm, which scared the nuns off.

Each woman was wearing a black nun’s habit and veil. One woman also was wearing sunglasses.

The FBI is investigating and posted bank surveillance photos on Twitter. At least one nun had a handgun, as seen in photos provided by the FBI.

“I think it’s nuts. It’s different. It’s really crazy, two nuns,” said Alcides Catrino told ABC News affiliate WNEP. “What is the world coming to?”

“I laughed,” said Valerie Hayes told WNEP. “Who would think to dress as a nun to rob a bank? It’s like, it’s not Halloween yet.”
