Driver killed in southern Alberta highway crash

RCMP said one man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in southern Alberta on Thursday.

It happened on Highway 41 about five kilometres south of Elkwater, Alta., at around 6:30 a.m.

Investigators believe the crash happened after the driver failed to properly navigate a curve in the road. RCMP are working to determine why the driver appeared to have lost control of the vehicle.

The driver, a 46-year-old Medicine Hat man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The hamlet of Elkwater is located about 345 kilometres southeast of Calgary, and about 227 kilometres east of Lethbridge.
