Suspect in sexual assault of 8-year-old girl at Toronto day camp posed as parent: police

Police are searching for a man suspected of sexually assaulting an eight-year-old girl at a downtown Toronto day camp.

Toronto police said the incident took place on the morning of Aug. 22 in the area of Dundas Street West and University Avenue.

It is alleged the male suspect was posing as a parent and approached the girl, struck up a conversation and sexually assaulted the child before leaving the scene.

“While she was at the day camp, an unknown man attended the facility under the guise of being a prospective parent,” Const. Jenniferjit Sidhu told Global News.

“At some point when that man was in the building, he started a conversation with a young eight-year-old girl. He then proceeded to sexually assault the young girl.”

Police said the man is described as white, between 30 to 50 years of age, six feet tall, with a thin build, black hair and beard.

He was seen wearing black sunglasses, a light-coloured shirt, dark shorts and red sneakers.
