A Dartmouth man has been arrested in connection to reports of counterfeit American bills being used in local restaurants in the community.
Police say they were called to a report of a fraud in progress at a restaurant in Dartmouth in the 500 block of Portland Street shortly before 3:30 p.m. Friday. Officers say it was reported a man tried paying with a fake $100 U.S. bill.
The man was located a short time later at 3:41 p.m. in the 600 block of Portland Street. He was arrested without incident.
According to police, the man was recognized as the same suspect from a fraud reported Thursday at another restaurant in Dartmouth in the 100 block of Main Street. It was reported a man made two purchases on Aug. 16 in the evening and paid for both with two American $100 bills.
The 19-year-old Dartmouth man has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on Oct. 3 to face multiple fraud and possession of counterfeit money related charges.
