“The ground crew from High River assessed him and determined that he had chest injuries,” Brideaux said. “There was some concern for other internal injuries that can’t be assessed in the pre-hospital environment.”

He did not have details on how the boy fell.

Dozemon said it happened at the end of the parade by the school staging area.

Nanton Mayor Rick Everett said he knows the family personally and is hoping for a quick recovery for the boy.

“We are waiting with bated breath, [hoping] that he pulls through,” Everett said. “It’s an unfortunate incident. The town has had a great parade and kids are always involved in our parade, so we just hope that this doesn’t affect parades in the future.
