The first happened about 10:30 p.m. at a home on Avondale Street in the Barton and Gage area in what detectives are calling a home invasion.
When police got there, a man exited the home with his hands up saying he was the shooter and he was arrested without incident.
A short while later a younger man walked into Hamilton General Hospital’s ER with a gunshot wound and he too was arrested.
Investigators now say that the break and enter wasn’t random.
Police confirmed Monday afternoon that the 65-year-old homeowner and the shooting victim, a 24-year-old Hamilton man, know each other.
Both will face charges. The homeowner in relation to the firearm and the shooting. The 24-year-old in connection with the break and enter.

The other incident happened just before 2 a.m. on Sherman Avenue near Cannon Street.
A man was walking with a group on Sherman when a car pulled up, someone shouted “Hey” and a shot was fired.
That man was rushed to hospital with a reported gunshot wound to the chest.
The search for a suspect continues as does the investigation.
Police say there is no danger to the public as a result of either incident.
