Edmonton police believe speed was a factor in a deadly motorcycle crash over the Canada Day weekend.

Shortly before 11:30 p.m. Sunday, police were called to the area of Calgary Trail and 55 Avenue.
Officers said a 33-year-old man was riding a 2013 Kawasaki ZX636 motorcycle south on Calgary Trail when he hit a pole.
The man was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries. The victim has been identified as Vik Mohan.
A memorial with flowers began to grow at the site of the crash on Tuesday. Messages of condolence were also written on tape on the pole.

The crash is still under investigation.
