Cameras on board a Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT) public bus caught a dramatic scene when an SUV barrels through a stop sign and crashes into the bus, sending it careening through a brick wall.
The DDOT video of the May 26, 2017, crash was released Tuesday.
Detroit police said the SUV driver was speeding and blew through a stop sign, the Detroit Free Press reported.
The video shows the SUV hitting the front of the bus, then spiralling into a telephone pole. The bus then loses control and crashes into a brick building.
The footage shows the driver being thrown from his seat during the crash.
There were five people in the bus at the time of the crash. Both the 60-year-old driver of the bus and the 18-year-old driver of the SUV were in critical condition after the crash.
