A 50-year-old woman who was a passenger on a small, private bus has died of injuries she sustained in a collision with a tanker truck east of Calgary.

The driver of the bus, which was carrying about 12 passengers, was also taken to hospital with serious injuries but has since been upgraded to stable condition.

Strathmore RCMP say the collision happened Tuesday at the intersection of Glenmore Trail and Highway 791.

Mounties say the preliminary investigation suggests the bus did not stop at a stop sign and was struck by the truck.

The impact caused both vehicles to leave the roadway but the tanker truck’s load was not compromised.
