Suddenly, the calf loses its footing and falls into the pool of water. The two elephants fly into a panic, anxiously circling the water as the calf thrashes about. The anxiety even reaches into the neighbouring enclosure, as the elephant housed there paces back and forth along the fence separating their enclosures.
The two elephants enter the water, which appears deep enough to prevent the calf from standing, and proceed to work together to shepherd the calf back to dry land.
According to a press release from the Grand Park Zoo, none of the elephants were in any way injured during the commotion.
