Edmonton police are investigating a suspicious death after a man was found dead in a parking lot in north Edmonton overnight.
Officers were called to the area of 125 Street and 132 Avenue at around 12:30 a.m. Sunday. A passerby found two men “with obvious signs of trauma,” EPS said in a news release.
One of the men was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS. The other man remains in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said Sunday no one was in custody.
The EPS Homicide Section is investigating.
“I have four kids, so to know that there’s all these people dying… You think you move to a good neighbourhood and — I mean, I used to live here years ago and it was quiet — you never know,” Lindsey Goulet said.
She says she moved to the area from Belvedere to get away from crime and safety concerns.
“Hoping it was going to get better, but I come to go do shopping and there’s forensics,” Goulet said Sunday morning. “I didn’t even know that there was a body found here. Kind of scary.”

On Friday, the Edmonton Police Service’s deputy chief held a news conference in an effort to reassure Edmontonians that Alberta’s capital is safe.
“I realize this has prompted many questions from the media as well as citizens who may be questioning the safety of their city,” Brian Simpson said. “I would like to make one thing very clear: Edmonton is and continues to be a safe city.
“The citizens of our city should enjoy what the city has to offer: our parks, our neighbourhoods, our downtown core, the amenities we have are there to be enjoyed and they are safe.”
