Clay jumped into action and confronted the man in order to protect himself and other passengers, including a woman and her two kids seated across from the suspect.

“I didn’t want her to get hurt. I didn’t want the kids to get hurt,” Clay told KSHB-TV. “I knew I was going to get stabbed but I had to fight for my life.”

Clay can be seen wrestling with the suspect in the video. As he pushes the knife-wielding man toward the front of the bus, the windshield of the vehicle shatters and the two men are seen dangling out of the bus.

Clay was stabbed once in the side just before the bus driver opened the front doors and the suspect fled.

Police were able to locate and arrest a suspect who has now been charged with aggravated assault.
