Kelowna RCMP looking for SUV connected to hit and run

Police in Kelowna are asking for the public’s help to identify and locate a vehicle they believe plowed into a parking meter and parking sign, which smashed through the window of a downtown business.

RCMP were called to the 1500 block of Pandosy Street on Saturday afternoon.

A witness told police a woman driving a blue Jeep Liberty caused the damage but failed to stay at the scene.

“Investigators are now releasing images of the suspect vehicle, believed to be a blue Jeep Liberty SUV with an Alberta licence plate attached,” Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said in a news release. “The vehicle may still be in the Central Okanagan and will likely have damage to the passenger side area of the front bumper.”

The witness snapped a picture of the vehicle as it turned north onto Water Street from Lawrence Avenue.

Another picture of the vehicle was obtained from surveillance footage.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Kelowna RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers.
