Strong winds hammered southwestern Manitoba as severe weather rolled through the province Friday evening.
According to Environment Canada, the strongest measured wind gust was 114 km/h at a weather station near Boissevain.
The high winds were at the front of a line of thunderstorms that moved through the area in the late afternoon said David Baggaley, a meteorologist with Environment Canada.
The strong winds also knocked out power to approximately 4,600 people in Ninette, Killarney, Baldur, Lena, Neelin, Plot Mound and Cartwright, according to Manitoba Hydro.
Three hydro poles were broken, numerous trees fell onto power lines and one transformer was blown. As well a lightning strike knocked out power to people in Hartney.
Lingering showers in the tail end of the storm are expected to move through southern Manitoba on Saturday.
