Halifax Regional Police continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding the homicide of Chelsea Probert, who also goes by Chelsie Probert.
The 18-year-old was found in medical distress around 10 p.m. on Tuesday along a pathway that connects Albro Lake Road and Farrell Street in north-end Dartmouth.
She was rushed to hospital but later died as a result of her injuries.

Probert’s death was originally deemed suspicious.
However, following an autopsy Wednesday by the Medical Examiner, was declared a homicide.
“We’re not disclosing how she was killed. That’s part of the investigation at this point,” said Const. Dianne Penfound, Halifax Regional Police.

Halifax Ground Search and Rescue members have been assisting police with a search of the area where Probert was found.
85 volunteers scoured the area for six hours on Wednesday. They were back on scene Thursday at 9 a.m. to continue looking for evidence in connection with Probert’s death.
“Anytime there’s a larger crime scene, we occasionally will ask the services of Ground Search and Rescue to assist us with going into the woods, trails and looking in the rough areas, pathways and any areas there’s water, just for anything that could be potential evidence involved in the crime,” said Sgt. Greg Robertson, Halifax Regional Police.
If a volunteer searcher does locate an item of significance at the scene, Robertson said they stop and alert police. The item is then photographed and seized by a trained Forensic Identification Officer.
Police will only say they continue to comb the area for valuable evidence and will not confirm if a murder weapon has been located.
At this time, police do not have a suspect description in Probert’s homicide. They also say it’s too early in the investigation to say if the homicide was a random act.
“There have been no arrests to date in Chelsea Probert’s homicide investigation, however the investigation is fluid and ongoing,” said Penfound.
