A 39-year-old Calgary man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with a fatal stabbing at the City Hall CTrain station on Friday night.
Police were called to the station at around 6:45 p.m. after a stabbing on the platform.
A 46-year-old man was found in life-threatening condition. He was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries. The victim has been identified as Nicholas Ozoechi Nwonye.

Transit security tracked the suspect, who police said was attempting to board an eastbound train. The train was immediately stopped and the suspect was arrested on Friday night.
“The two gentlemen were unknown to each other and we believe it was random in nature,” said Insp. Don Coleman.
“It’s one of those things, you have to realize the complexities of the community in 2017,” Coleman said of the random nature of the crime. “That poses opportunities where the community and the police are faced with violent incidences.”
On Saturday afternoon, police said Keeton Michel Gagnon was charged with one count of second-degree murder. Police said Gagnon was previously known to police.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, June 23.
