Have you been following the Mr. Met saga that has erupted in the Big Apple?
Here’s the low down:
The New York Mets issued an apology following their 7-1 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday.
But the team didn’t apologize for yet another loss, they apologized on behalf of their mascot, Mr. Met.
You see, the employee in the Mr. Met costume apparently didn’t see eye to eye with a fan after the loss.
So much so, the mascot flipped the bird to the fan… and it was caught on video.
I kid you not.
“We apologize for the inappropriate action of this employee. We do not condone this type of behaviour. We are dealing with this matter internally,” the Mets said.
The team also said that it’s moving forward with a different employee in the Mr. Met costume.
The incident was a smash hit on social media as fans poured gasoline onto the fire, creating memes and other hilarious tweets.
But I think the back page of Thursday’s New York Daily News hit the nail on the head…
