Road washed out near Brenda Mines, repair work underway

Flooding forced the closure of the Brenda Mines interchange along the Okanagan Connector (Highway 97C) om Wednesday.

MacDonald Creek, which runs above the connector, burst its banks overnight. The water carved a path to the Brenda Mines underpass and onto the Highway 97C exit ramp.

This forced the Brenda Mines exit to briefly close Wednesday morning.

The ministry of transportation is on site working to divert the creek back within its banks.

The damage to the exit road was minor, according to the ministry. A contractor is working to repair the exit, but it is still open while that work is underway.
