Man charged after holiday weekend standoff

A 26-year-old man faces a number of charges after a standoff over the long holiday weekend that ended peacefully.

London police responded to reports of a man with outstanding warrants inside a home on Trafalgar Street between Anderson Avenue and Pegler Street at around 10 a.m. on Monday.

Officers say the man refused to leave the house and stayed holed up inside for around five hours before surrendering to police without incident at 3 p.m.

The suspect has been charged with robbery, assault, mischief under $5,000, threats to cause damage to personal property, and threats to cause bodily harm.
