The federal government is pledging over $2 million in funding for infrastructure upgrades to historic properties and parks in Hamilton.
The funding, part of the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Fund‘s second intake, will be used for 12 projects across the city.
Some of the projects include upgrades at Dundurn Castle, Auchmar estate, Ancaster Old Town Hall, and renovating the windows at the Central Public Library.
Hamilton MPs Bob Bratina and Filomena Tassi made the announcement along with Mayor Fred Eisenberger outside Auchmar estate on Friday morning.
Eisenberger says the focus is on improving existing infrastructure rather than building new facilities.
The federal government recently announced the City of Burlington would be getting nearly $600,000 for 14 infrastructure projects to be completed by March 2018.
In total, southern Ontario is receiving up to $88.8 million through the Canada 150 program.
