Police say a car turning onto Pelmewash Parkway from Oyama Road was hit by a pick-up truck towing a travel trailer.

“Investigators believe that the driver of the Dodge pickup truck may have failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection,” Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said in a news release.

The driver and passenger of the car appeared to be trapped inside and emergency crews needed to free them. Both were taken to hospital as a precaution.

The driver and passengers of the pick-up truck were all okay.

RCMP said the situation could have been much worse.

“The damage to the Mazda passenger car was mostly contained to the vehicles front end,” O’Donaghey said. “Our investigators believe that had the Mazda been impacted in the passenger compartment area, the injuries sustained by the occupants would have likely been serious in nature.”
