A 20-year-old man has been charged with several child pornography offences in connection with a raid on a home in Grande Prairie, Alta. two months ago.
Grande Prairie RCMP said officers executed a search warrant at the home on March 17, 2017 in connection with an investigation spurred on by reports of child pornography being shared on “multiple social media platforms.”
They said by working in tandem with ALERT’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit, they were able to identify a suspect and secure the search warrant.
Police said they could not specify what social media platforms were allegedly used.
Justin Doucet of Grande Prairie was arrested on Tuesday and charged with possessing, distributing and accessing child pornography.
According to the RCMP, Doucet has been released on bail but must follow a number of unspecified conditions.
Doucet is scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on June 28.
Anyone with information about this case or any other case involving the exploitation of children is asked to contact to police, Crimestoppers or Cybertip.ca.
