A new project that works towards providing affordable housing for aboriginal people in Saskatoon is getting a financial boost.
Officials with the federal and provincial governments announced Tuesday that they are jointly contributing $80,000 towards two of the four units.

The rental housing project is owned by Camponi Housing Corporation, which works in partnership with SaskNative Rentals and La Maison Mamawe-Atosketak.
This partnership provides affordable housing for low- to moderate-income individuals and families in Saskatoon.
“Camponi Housing Corporation is aware of the crisis facing aboriginal peoples, the attendant social problems and the need to provide supports that will meaningfully improve the health and well-being of our tenants,” Camponi chair Angela Bishop said in a press release.
“The provision of safe, adequate, supportive and affordable housing is essential to the overall community well-being and impacts on every individual living within Saskatoon.”

Camponi Housing Corporation has contributed around $750,000 toward the project.
The units are on Diefenbaker Drive and Nicholson Place. Both locations have an upper three-bedroom unit and the lower two-bedroom unit.
