Quebec’s Public Security Minister Martin Coiteux reiterated his support Sunday for Montreal police Chief Philippe Pichet.
The announcement was made after Coiteux received a detailed report Friday, outlining measures the police department would put in place, to win back the trust of the public following recent allegations of wrongdoing within the force.
Coiteux said he was satisfied with the measures provided in the action plan, the details of which have yet to be made public.

The minister has been criticized for not revealing the contents of the report.
“He has the report, he knows what’s in it. He’s chosen the excerpts and the angles he’s interested in. I’ve rarely seen anything like it. It doesn’t make sense,” Parti Québécois MNA Pascal Bérubé said.

In a Tweet, Coiteux shot back at his critics saying it was his duty to “react” and that it was up to Montreal’s public security commission to release the report.
The commission will be meeting on Wednesday, presumably to go over the document, with a public meeting scheduled for Friday.
