Highway 97A south of Sicamous is now reopen after closing for more than 24-hours due to a debris slide.
The highway reopened just after 11:30 a.m.
The debris came off a hill-side, dislodging some concrete blocks from a retaining wall, with some of the material landing on the highway.
“A retaining wall that was damaged in the slide has been rebuilt, with the catchment area now cleaned,” according to the Ministry of Transportation. “A large boulder that was deposited onto the highway has been blasted to break into manageable pieces and will be removed this morning.”
Drivers can expect delays, and the ministry advises motorists check DriveBC for the latest updates.
