York police have laid more than 60 charges against two men in a series of break-and-enters.
York police worked with several other police services in the GTA to make the arrests.
It’s alleged the suspects are connected to 22 break-and-enters in Markham, Richmond Hill, Scarborough, Bolton, Brampton, Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington, Ajax and Pickering.
The pair were arrested on February 13 while committing a break-and-enter in Durham.
Twenty-six-year-old Deandre Kadeem Davis, of Brampton, is charged with 15 counts of break-and-enter, two counts of break-and-enter with intent and one charge of possession of property obtained by crime.
Twenty-two-year-old Shuntwon Tayvon Clarke, of Toronto, is charged with 19 counts of break-and-enter, two counts of break-and-enter with intent, 10 counts of possession of property obtained by crime, two counts of breach of probation and driving while under suspension.
Davis will appear in court on March 22 and Clarke was set to appear in court today.
York Regional Police is reminding citizens of a few basic steps to take to protect their property.
They suggest locking all doors that lead to your residence as well as your vehicle doors. Don’t announce your travel plans or absence from home on social media or your phone’s voicemail. Ask a trusted neighbour to watch your house and make your home looked lived-in if you’re going on vacation.
Consider installing a quality security system with motion sensors and/or video monitoring and secure all basement and ground-level windows and patio doors.
