WATCH: Stephen Colbert trolls Kellyanne Conway by using microwave cameras to film 'Late Show.' – Mar 14, 2017

The Late Show host Stephen Colbert ridiculed Kellyanne Conway Monday night after she had suggested earlier in the day that “microwaves that turn into cameras” could have been used to spy on U.S. President Donald Trump or the American citizenry.

“Trump advisor and stepmom who is trying to replace your mother, Kellyanne Conway, explained yesterday that just because there’s no evidence that [Trump’s] phone was wiretapped, doesn’t mean Trump is wrong,” Colbert said.

Colbert then cut to a clip of the Senior White House advisor saying she doesn’t have any evidence to support Trump’s claim that Barack Obama wiretapped Trump Tower during the election.

But she did refer to an “article” she’d read this week “that talked about how you can surveil someone through their phones [and] certainly through their television sets — any number of different ways, and microwaves that turn into cameras.”

“It’s true, it’s true, microwaves that turn into cameras. How do you think we film this show? Jim, show them Camera 3,” Colbert said as the camera panned to a microwave on a tripod.

Conway later clarified on CNN that she couldn’t be held accountable for the words that come out of her mouth because she’s not “Inspector Gadget” and isn’t in the business of “having evidence.”

Colbert joked about Conway’s surveillance claims, criticizing her for the “Inspector Gadget” comment.

“Okay, Inspector Gadget had all sorts of tools at his disposal: gadget skates, gadget ‘copter,” Colbert said, referencing the cartoon detective. “Kellyanne Conway has only one move: ‘Go, go, alternative facts!'”

Colbert also grabbed a Hot Pocket from the microwave and spoke to former U.S. President Obama through the appliance.

“President Obama,” he whispered, while looking into the microwave. “I miss you.”

Last week, the host couldn’t wait to talk about Trump’s early-morning tweets, which accused Obama of tapping his Trump Tower phones.

Colbert read the first several tweets during his monologue, saying, “And just like that, the White House had to reset their sign back to zero,” revealing a plaque that read ‘The president has worked 0 days without a Twitter freakout.’”

Colbert referenced Trump’s tweet, sent at 6:45 a.m.

“Who wakes up that angry?” Colbert asked. “That’s furious. Somebody give this guy a Xanax… or a bran muffin.”

“Or a bran muffin just stuffed with Xanax, like a ‘Branax,’ or something.”
